The mountains were wrapped in silence that morning, as if holding their breath. Lucie and Paul had already said yes once, surrounded by their loved ones in France. But here, in Norway, their adopted home, they wanted something different. Something quieter. A moment just for them.
We met in their little hytte (wooden cabin), nestled high in the mountains above Aurland. The air was crisp, and together, we made our way down toward the fjord for their vow renewal, but the weather had its own plans.
The fog was thick, the sky heavy. The view had disappeared completely, swallowed by the mist. Then came the wind… and, as if to surprise us, the snow, in September. Tiny flakes swirling in the air, melting as they touched the ground.
We waited. Time slowed. And then, as it often does in Norway, the magic happened. The clouds parted, the light shifted, and suddenly the fjord revealed itself in all its grandeur.
That was the moment. They stood facing one another, reading their vows with trembling voices and smiling eyes, the wind still dancing around them. It was cold, yes but there was warmth everywhere.
The kind of beauty that’s both raw and tender. A meeting of souls, a quiet echo of love in the vastness of nature.
